Three Sisters

Overview

Three Sisters dive site is located on the south side of Padar Island in Komodo National Park. This area is considered the start of the south of Komodo. This is a great dive site to visit while you are around the Padar area, famous for its view of rugged mountains at the hiking point. This dive site is a bit advanced because of the currents here, so it’s not recommended for divers who are not experienced. Being a little south this site can get a bit colder than the more northern sites too.

The Marine Animals

The marine life you find exploring the 3 pinnacles of the site is varied and amazing. On this site you can find lazy resting White Tip Reef Sharks,  schools of Mobula Rays and Blue Surgeons, big schools of Giant Trevallies and Jacks, Great Barracudas, Eagle Rays, Giant FrogFish and more. For the small stuff Pygmy Seahorses and Nudibranchs can be seen here too.

Scuba Diving in the Three Sisters

For and leisurely dive we want to dive this site either on a slack tide and just a little current to easily fin kick between the 3 pinnacles. Alternatively, If we jump in on a rising or falling tide, we will have more schooling fish with the stronger currents, but more of a challenge getting about the pinnacles. We will drop in on one of the end pinnacles depending on the current direction, and descend down to 6 meters to hit the tip.

From here we will explore down the face of the pinnacle to a depth of 25m before swimming across to check out the next. We will continue to explore the next two pinnacles for the rest of the dive. For those up for an adventure there is actually a “4th Sister”, the other pinnacle a little to the south, we rarely explore here but it is an option too.

Topography: Submerged Pinnacles
